Burdette is a super sweet, 8-year-old, female dilute tortie who was surrendered to a shelter in SC by her elderly owner who could no longer provide care for her.
In her foster home, it was found that while Burdette is very sweet and non-aggressive with humans, the same is not true with other cats in her space. Burdette becomes a bully with other cats, making it clear that she should be a one-and-only so she can get ALL the love and attention!
Burdette is spayed, microchipped and up-to-date on vaccinations. She would make a perfect lap cat!
If you are interested in adopting Burdette, please send an email to info@lapsandnaps.org or call 828-447-1230.
Butterscotch is a sweet, 8-year-old, female orange tabby who was surrendered to a shelter along with another female of the same age. No information on their history is available as the owner had a neighbor take them to the shelter while he was traveling abroad.
Both girls were not spayed when they were surrendered, so they have been spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. It was thought at first that the girls must be bonded and need to stay together, but that isn't the case. Butterscotch is the braver, more adventurous of the two and is a little purr machine! She has a gorgeous, medium length coat of fur. She will nip if overstimulated so she needs to be in a cat-savvy household.
If you are interested in adopting Butterscotch, please send an email to info@lapsandnaps.org or call 828-447-1230.

Monday is a sweet 10-year-old female who is currently living in a garage until a foster home is found.
Monday is an indoor-only cat whose life was turned upside down when her person had to move into a facility for health reasons. The family member who took her in cannot keep her indoors because of the other animals in the house, so Monday is living in the garage.
Monday is a super cuddley lap cat with a touch of anxiety. She gets along with other cats, but doesn't like sharing a litter box. She loves to chew on plants so they will need to be out of reach unless they are cat-safe.

Nugget is a super sweet, 15-year-old, spayed female, up-to-date on her vaccinations and had a recent senior exam and blood panel.
Nugget was once an indoor cat, became an indoor/outdoor cat, and then was completely outdoors. Laps and Naps received a call about Nugget during the bitterly cold 2022 Christmas weekend. We couldn't bear the thought of her being outdoors another night, so her wonderful foster mom drove to another town to get her the night of Christmas Eve.
Nugget is very affectionate and loves to be brushed. She had a lot of scabs, possibly due to a flea allergy, but she has been treated and is healing. She prefers Dr. Elsey's Cat Attract litter.
If you are interested in adopting Nugget, please send an email to info@lapsandnaps.org or call 828-447-1230.
Oliver is an 11-year-old male who is looking for a home where he can be the only kitty and with people who can spend more time with him.
Oliver's original people brought in two younger cats who would gang up on Oliver and eat his food. Oliver is a big scaredy-cat who likes to hide and be close to people he trusts. Because of his sensitive nature, he started peeing inappropriately. His people were going to have him euthanized, but fortunately, Oliver was rescued by family members who felt he deserved a better life.
As the only cat, Oliver has stopped his marking behaviors. He has some anxiety and is emotionally needy and his saviors would like to see him in a home with people who are home more so he's not alone all day.
If you are interested in fostering or adopting Oliver, please send an email to info@lapsandnaps.org or call 828-447-1230.
Phoebe is a gorgeous 12-year-old girl with arthritis who is looking for a new home because a new dog and a baby arrived and Phoebe's needs aren't being met.
As a kitten, Phoebe was hit by a car, breaking her pelvis and back legs. She was surrendered to a vet clinic where she healed and was adopted out to a young couple. She was doted on for twelve years until recently when a dog and a baby joined the family. Her food and litter have to be kept out of reach of the dog and the baby, making it difficult for sweet Phoebe to access with her arthritis.
Phoebe is a very social cat who greets all visitors. She gets along with cats, dogs and children. She loves to be petted, will give head bumps, and paw you for more pets.
If you are interested in fostering or adopting Phoebe, please send an email to info@lapsandnaps.org or call 828-447-1230.
Simba is a very sweet, 12-year-old, female gray tabby who needed a new home when her person moved to Hawaii. She has been in a foster home in Chapel Hill, NC since May but is not getting along with one of the two household cats, so she needs a new foster home or adoptive home.
Simba takes medication once a day for hyperthyroidism and is otherwise very healthy. She co-habitated well with another cat in her previous home until that cat died, so she can learn to get along with certain cats. Simba also enjoys playing with ice cubes!

Willow has a sad story to share. His beloved human companion had a fall on Christmas Day 2021 and was taken to the hospital. Willow waited and waited for him to come home but, tragically, he died. Willow was alone in the house for three months, with a family member coming in to care for him in the evening.
Willow is an 8- year-old neutered gray tabby, up-to-date on his vaccinations and had a recent senior blood panel. He adjusted very well to his second foster home and his bossy, quirky personality really shines! He came to Laps and Naps with IBS and his very patient foster dad has worked closely with the vets to resolve that issue. He does have occasional flareups of sneezing/snottiness that don't require treatment.
If you are interested in adopting Willow, please send an email to info@lapsandnaps.org or call 828-447-1230.

Mr. 8 is an 11-year-old male who was put outside with his kitty companion, Willow, after their person went to a nursing home. Mr. 8 pretty much keeps to himself, but likes human attention on his schedule!
Both kitties were indoor/outdoor during the day, but spent nights inside. After their person left, someone locked them outside and they were very confused and scared. A kind neighbor fed them and set up a makeshift shelter. The same neighbor contacted Laps and Naps a couple of days before the house was to be auctioned, fearing what would happen to Willow and Mr. 8.
These two friendly kitties are now safe and warm in a foster home and are looking for a permanent home together.
If you would like to adopt Mr. 8 and Willow, please send an email to info@lapsandnaps.org or call 828-447-1230.
