From Dog Crate To Apartment: Gabby Finds A New Home!

Gabby’s story is like so many others in that she was one of four cats in the home of a person who was in Hospice care. Unlike the other three cats, 18-year old Gabby was being housed in a dog crate by the overwhelmed caregivers because of her “litter box issues”. A family friend offered to take Gabby into her home on a temporary basis until a more permanent placement could be found. The friend contacted Laps and Naps to see if we could help and we couldn’t refuse once we learned of Gabby’s sad circumstances.

Gabby’s rescuer needed to keep her away from her own two cats and in a place where she could assess her litter box habits, so she kept her in a bathroom, which was a welcome change from the dog crate. What her rescuer learned was that not only is Gabby very sweet and affectionate, but her litter box mishaps were apparently environmental due to the stress of her beloved person being ill and having to share litter boxes and the limited attention of the caregivers with the other three cats.

Once Dr. Laurin Cooke examined Gabby and the vet records that came with her, she declared her suitable to be placed in a home. Now Gabby has full range of an apartment and all the love and lap time her sweet little soul deserves!
