In Memoriam
Friends we have lost this year
It never gets easier to lose a beloved companion, but our hearts are eased knowing the cats in our care experience gentle medical support, a comfortable home, and people who cherished and respected them before they passed.
With gratitude to our foster families for sharing your homes and hearts.

Wally
March 29, 2025
Wally came to Laps and Naps in 2021 at the age of 15. He was emaciated and anemic due to a severe flea infestation. Wally lived with Eartha M. who formed a deep bond with her “Wally Boo” before going to Brian M. We are so grateful Wally felt love and security in his golden years.

Titi
March 15, 2025
Senior cats have a special kind of wisdom and grace, and Titi embodied that beautifully. He may have grown slower and sleepier with time, but his purrs remained strong, and his love never wavered. Thank you to Mary Jo L., his devoted foster mom

Gandalf
March 24, 2025
Gandalf was found found lying in the rain in South Carolina, in very poor condition, with suspected FIP. Gandalf felt love, security and safety before passing, and we are so grateful to his finder and fostermom Gabriella.

Sheba
March 24, 2025
Sheba’s person died unexpectedly, and the family was ready to take the 11-year-old to a shelter. Charleen B. stepped up to foster, but Sheba’s hyperthyroidism had gone untreated for so long that her poor body was skeletal and weak. Sheba received palliative care for three months, with Charlene making every day full of love and comfort.

Alice
March 27, 2025
Alice was returned to another rescue after adoption because of litterbox issues – not uncommon among declawed cats. Charleen B. gave her the time, love, and medical care she needed, and Alice seems to have agreed: she pooped in her litterbox like a champ for Charleen! For seven months, Alice had a stable and loving home, before passing unexpectedly.

Rainbow
April 20, 2025
Dementia prevented Rainbow’s mom from caring for her properly anymore. With advanced kidney disease, we knew Rainbow’s time with us was limited, but fostermom Charleen B. welcomed her with open arms. Her last few few months were filled with soft blankets and endless cuddles, before she passed in her sleep at 20-years-old.

Emma
April 6, 2025
Sweetie and Emma’s owner died in their home, leaving the cats alone. Within hours of being rescued, Emma was at the ER, suffering from the lapse in her thyroid medication. With a poor prognosis, it was decided to ease her suffering. We are always hopeful we can give these sweet seniors more quality time but sometimes it’s beyond what we can do.

Mitch
April 5, 2025
Mitchell touched many lives with his gentle spirit, and he will be dearly missed. He had been recently adopted and left us far too soon. Though his little body was frail, his new mom said he was right where he needed to be.

Dotty
July 23, 2025
Dotty was cared for by our friends at Cats Cradle Kitty Hotel before going to a loving foster home. Shy at first, she was soon snuggling with Shelley C. at night and friends with the resident dogs and cats. A history of seizures and other medical issues finally took their toll. Run free, sweet Dotty. You were loved.

Jimmy
May 6, 2025
17-year old Jimmy was living with his person in a car when they made the loving decision to find him a home. Jillian B. and Oscar A. loved their wobbly little guy, their second end-of-life foster cat.

Mittsie
July 16, 2025
For 13 wonderful months, Mittsie brought laughter, comfort, and joy to her foster family, after the passing of her beloved owner. At 15 years old, this spunky girl quickly made her mark — full of sass, charm, and resilience. She is sorely missed.

Dotty
July 30, 2025
Remembered for her sweet meows and fierce love, Dotty was a part of the Cambata family (including two young kids whom she adored) for two years after being found abandoned. The photo above is at her 22nd birthday celebration.

Precious
October 6, 2025
Many of our cats come from older caretakers, but tragedy can strike anyone. Precious’ owner was severely injured in a car accident, and the cat was brought to a county shelter. Precious wasn’t eating, and had just one day left before euthanasia when Danielle answered the urgent call to foster. We tried so hard to give her a long, happy life, but it was not to be.

Allie
October 14, 2025
Allie found her way to Carson W.’s home, after Hurricane Helene tore through the area. Despite health issues, shis little survivor remained gentle, affectionate, and resilient until she was ready to go at the estimated age of 18.

Duke
October 20, 2025
Last December, Duke and his siblings were surrendered to us after his elderly owner could no longer care for them. Just under a year later, with fosters Rita and Jacob at his side, 18-year-old Duke left this world surrounded by love, free from pain, and held in the hearts of those who cherished him.

Calamity Jane
October 27, 2025
CJ would have turned twenty-one this December, a true matriarch and gentle soul who touched so many lives. Two years ago, after her person passed away, CJ was lovingly taken in by her caregiver, Molly, who, along with Charles, gave her a peaceful and comfortable home filled with love. Our hearts are with them.

Snickers
November 4, 2025
16-year-old Snickers and bonded buddy Peanut (around 11) were days away from ending up in a shelter. We knew they must stay together, their bond was too deep to break, and they’d already been through so much. Fostermom Caitlin stepped up, but sadly Snickers had undiagnosed hyperthyroidism that, despite exhaustive ER care, he could not come back from. His memory lives on in Peanut, whom Caitlin adopted.
