Partnership Saves Lives!

“Last summer, we trapped three older cats from a huge colony,ˮ says Lauren Sykes, founder of Loki’s Light. Based just north of Charlotte, she works to trap, neuter, and vaccinate displaced and feral cats, provide food and ongoing care, and rehome when possible.

Roo’s Transformation

Roo’s Transformation

“Senior cats are overlooked, with many dying because younger cats get more attention,” foster and adopter Erica says. “I’ve fostered pets considered ‘unadoptable’ who likely would have been euthanized at the shelter. It really highlights how stressful shelter environments can be for some animals and how a calm, quiet home can mean the difference between life and death.”

Foot and Sweet Pea Have ‘Treetop’ Guardian Angels

We’re thrilled to share that the Cocanour family – who founded and operate Asheville Tree-Top Cat Rescue – has chosen to sponsor a Laps and Naps bonded cat pair! Thanks to their generosity, Foot and Sweet Pea’s veterinary care and related expenses will be fully covered through this sponsorship until they find their furever home. What an amazing gift for these two sweet souls.

A Day in the Life of a Senior Cat Rescuer

It’s getting harder to find homes for the seniors who need us now more than ever. Each day starts the same: checking emails and voicemails from people desperately trying to rehome senior cats. Some are their own, some belong to aging relatives, and others are abandoned or left behind when an owner enters a nursing home. Sometimes, the owner simply forgets to feed them.

Adoption News! Back in January, Jahnnie and Edgarʼs mom reached out to us about her bonded 9-year old cats. She was in hospice care with little time left, and needed to find a loving home for the pair before she made her transition. Heartbreakingly, she had considered euthanasia, fearing she couldnʼt keep them together or secure their future.

Our “Dapper Gentleman” is at Peace

Today we said goodbye to our dear, sweet Buddy. A most noble, gentle-cat, Buddy deeply touched the lives of those of us privileged to spend time with him in the ten weeks he was under our guardianship.

From Dog Crate To Apartment: Gabby Finds A New Home!

Gabby’s story is like so many others in that she was one of four cats in the home of a person who was in Hospice care. Unlike the other three cats, 18-year old Gabby was being housed in a dog crate by the overwhelmed caregivers because of her “litter box issues”.
