Left Alone for a Month, Now Home for Good

Left Alone for a Month, Now Home for Good

In early September we got a heartbreaking call from a woman who’d been moved into assisted living. Her beloved 18-year-old cat April had been alone in her old home, with only someone stopping in to feed her once a day, since the end of July. She had no-one else to turn to, and time had run out. The sheriff’s office gave her our number and we reached out to our foster network with the emergency plea.

Within hours, super foster Meghan was on her way to pick April up!

Our first priority was a thorough checkup and testing – it’d been many years since April had been seen by a vet – and our generous supporters stepped up to help with the unexpected medical bills. Over the next few months, April learned to trust and relax in her new home, and Meghan realized she was in love with the sweet old gal and couldn’t let her go!

Today, Meghan made it official – April is part of her family forever. We couldn’t be happier for April, who beat the odds with the help of a caring community and extraordinary foster family.

Mature cats make wonderful companions. If you’re considering adding a new friend to the family, don’t overlook these gems!
