In October, 16-year-old Abbey’s owner was diagnosed with a brain tumor. While awaiting oncology surgery, their 12-year-old son was also undergoing treatment and weekly physical therapy for scoliosis.
An already heartbreaking situation became even worse when medical bills became so overwhelming that her owner was forced to sell the home and move in with family.
And Abbey could not go with them.
Abbey had been part of the family since she was a 6-week-old kitten, growing up alongside five children, always incredibly gentle, social, and loving. Her owner was desperate to find a new home where Abbey could live out her senior years surrounded by comfort and kindness
But time was running out.
Abbey was just days away from ending up in the local shelter when we shared her story on social media. The outpouring of love was overwhelming, with one of our long-time fosters taking her in temporarily.
We’re happy to report that Abbey now has an approved adopter lined up, and will join them in the New Year!
We wish her first family strength in their health journey, and hope that knowing Abbey is safe and loved gives them peace.
